Maritime Museum Of The Atlantic
I Touched The Titanic...
...literally! We took the family to the Maritime Museum Of The Atlantic in Halifax where they are having a sea monster display for the kids this week. Of particular interest was the Titanic display, where they have a piece of the Titanic grand staircase railing,of which you are invited to touch. The wood is ornately carved, and quite beautiful!
The Maritime Museum holds 20 artifacts from the Titanic.Another artifact of interest was the mahogany deck chair, which is one of the only intact chairs in the world, and matches those seen in Titanic photos.
The Titanic sank 700 nautical miles off the coast of Halifax.Halifax was involved in the recovery initiative, and actually holds 150 of the passengers in 3 Halifax cemeteries.

Daylilies
The latin name for daylily, hemerocallis, means "beauty for a day". Each flower blooms for one day only. Fortunately each scape produces enough blooms to keep the plant blooming for weeks or much longer. The daylily is generally a hardy garden plant. There are thousands of hybrids to chose from, with new ones added each year.

Lavender Path
A fragrant lavender pathway in Jenny's garden.
You can only imagine the wonderful fragrance as you take a peek at this lavender pathway. The lavender grows very well at the shore. Maybe from a combination of heavy early morning dew, salt air, and periods of drought. It doesn't flourish half as well in my own garden, which tends to get a lot more water.I have received a couple of lavender sachets from this garden. The fragrance is beautiful!
