Grasshopper Eggs

She was cute sitting on a hosta leaf with her double striped self blending in with the foliage.
And she was cute sitting on a bright pink daylily with her little green body acting as a pleasing contrast.
She is not so cute laying eggs between my deck boards.
I wonder how many grasshoppers would come from this egg sack. I don't really want to be overwhelmed with a large population, therefore I'm afraid to say that the sack is probably compost bound.

Maybe not her greatest beauty moment...but most important moment for her. Not really any grasshoppers in the yard/garden, but plenty in the countrysides.

Very true Chris! This is the first year we've noticed grasshoppers in the garden. I'm a little worried that their population might explode.

Oh no!

But still . . . if you're likely to be over-run . . .

I especially like these grasshopper photos.

And thanks, Chey, for saying you are a 'Follower' of PICTURES JUST PICTURES . I'm really pleased.

I add a photo each day . . . but because it's a blog without words and the new kind of reader only shows text - the title ( PICTURES JUST PICTURES ) will come up on the dashboard but nothing else.

Lucy

P.S. I hope you get some click-throughs!

Great shots of your grasshopper...my photos of them so far have all been blurry. We have lots of them this year...our outdoor cats are having fun chasing and catching them!

I just love your blog. I think your photography is just incredible. I saw a grasshopper just the other day on my top deck above the teahouse. It was such a fleeting moment. I guess that is why I love what you do in capturing those fleeting ephemeral moments.
Sincerely,
Philip

This is the first year that I have had a problem with grasshoppers in the garden. They have eaten just about every amaryllis and a few other plants. I usually just let nature take care of problem pests but not with the grasshoppers. Every one I see is a goner. I feel bad, but they are unwelcome.

Ugh..yes..those could certainly wreak havoc! I'm picturing the stories from "On The Banks of Plum Creek" by Laura Ingalls, lol!

Compared to the grasshoppers in my yard, yours looks a heck of a lot more interesting! The eggs, I'm not to sure, but at least it makes for an interesting collection of critter photos!
