Obedient Plant

Obedient Plant~ physostegia virginiana, is an ornamental perennial which sometimes may not be considered quite so obedient due to it's invasive tendencies in fertile soil.

Obedient Plant is also known as False Dragonhead due to it's similarity to Snapdragon. It also looks similar to foxglove in my opinion.
.
Obedient plant is aptly named for a tendency to allow its tiny flowers to be pushed to one side or another and maintain that position for awhile. My kids enjoy this plant, and I've planted my clump near their play area.

Thanks Philip! They do tend to spread, however I find that mine are easily pulled back to maintain them to the spot where I would like them to be.

No blooms on mine just yet. Every year I have to poke them around the stem, just because I can. 1st time visiting - lovely blog.

The pink is especially lovely but certainly has a mind of its own (I have been chasing (attempting to tame) obedient plants in one bed for almost 30 years) :)

I have these, and am quite fond of them. They don't spread too much for me. Your photos are lovely!
