Comfrey~Who Would Have Thought

Comfrey blooms unfurling.comfrey

Comfrey blooms seem almost insignificant at a distance, compared to the size of the foliage. Who would have thought that the unfurling flowers would be so beautiful? It's amazing the things that you discover when you get up close.

Lovely photos. I love to get up close and personal with blooms too :)

It was very surprising to me when I first discovered that herbs could have pretty flowers, too. I don't have any comfrey. The flower here is very pretty.

That bottom photograph is beautiful - it looks like the flowers follow some mathematical arc as they unfurl.

I love these. What great shapes they would be to paint. I'm inspired by your photography.

Great shots. Comfrey is so useful too. I cut it and use it to aid composting and it happily regrows.

They are, aren't they? Mine is not close to blooming yet, though. You are north of me, but must be in a warmer spot. We are zone 5 here.

Nancy~~Isn't it interesting?!

Crafty~~Ah, you understand too!

Jane Marie~~The flower is very small compared to the size of the plant. I've only just discovered how very beautiful it actually is.

Happymouffetard~~It truly does.

Jean~~Thank you so much. They would make a very interesting subject:).

Karen~~I use it in the compost as well. I chop it right down mid summer, and it happily regrows and flowers again.

gardenpath~~We are zone 5B. Our lupines are just starting to bloom now.

Curmudgeon~~I had no idea either, until I got up close!
