Oriental Poppy...The Fire Within

Most of us are familiar with the large pods of the Oriental Poppy, Papaver Orientale. I'm always amazed at the size and texture of the pods, and then when they finally open up, the perfect fiery crepe blooms.

Beautiful photos. We have these poppies growing as weeds in the Languedoc, in the fields, on the roadside, in the garden, but we keep as many as we can in the garden because they're so lovely.
Thanks for visiting my blog and introducing me to yours.

Gorgeous pics Chey. They almost appear alien-like yet comfortably familiar. Nice.

I always think of them as packed parachutes. Amazing that such thin petals can open from those huge buds. The look so thorny and unkind but are so soft. And some varieties really are beautiful. I have a red, a white and Pattys Plum.
