Those nasty little beasts! My husband tells me that one of our local feed stores was taking orders for ladybugs. If I have trouble with aphids this year I just might try them out.

Ladybirds and Lace wings are good predators for aphids, over here you can buy them mail order. I have also found the small birds useful allies in the battle, and encourage them to nest in the garden, that way they decimate the aphid population feeding their chicks who grow up with a taste for aphids!

Amy~~I haven't seen ladybugs available for order in our area. That sounds like a great idea for those who can access them! You are right about the aphids...NASTY little beasts.They can be very destructive.I'm on top of them with a homemade spray:).

Zoe~~Thanks for the great tips! These aquilegia are self seeded wild plants and very hardy.The aphids didn't damage them at all.

Aphids ... ugh ! they were feasting on my purple leaf sandcherries .. next will be the leaf miners on my Black Barlow .. the on true love I have in a little pretend woodland patch .. life can be cruel ? LOL
