Maiden Bloom

This is such an exciting time of year. First daylily seedling to bloom this year was this two year old seedling( seedling #1~top two photos), blooming for the first time ever today, and I was very pleasantly surprised! The cross is from pod parent Pure And Simple x pollen parent Spectral Elegance. The color of the flower reminded me of orange sherbet, and I could see it shining brightly from the other side of the yard. I feel like a new mother:). And the fun is just beginning! Its sibling( seedling #2~photo of bud) will bloom for the first time ever tomorrow:).

I was thinking of orange sherbet too, before I read it in your post! What a gorgeous colour - I love this one :)

Wow, it's got a ruffled look too. It's amazing how many combinations are going into the new plants. I'm amazed at how many generations produce such beauty. It just keeps getting better.

Amy~ Thanks so much! It's such an orange creamy color, it reminded me of something edible:).

Anna~ Each generation seems to bring something a little fancier. I love the fancy, but still love the old non ruffled open faced look as well.

Nancy~Thanks so much! Strained peaches~ how scrumptous! I didn't cross pollinate for this daylily myself, as I just started to learn about hybridizing the year I obtained seed for this plant. I watched it germinate, and cared for it and nurtured it until it bloomed, so I still feel like a proud parent:). I have both of it's parents now in my garden.

Mother Nature~ It truly is exciting. Just as unique as each child to a parent!

Karen, Xjion89, Jane Marie, Dave, and Zoe~ Thanks so much for your kind comments!!!

Chey This is so lovely - and makes me more convinced that when I start planting this Garden - Daylillies should feature.
